This 8-day Uganda safari takes you from Entebbe through Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, combining thrilling big game drives, chimpanzee and gorilla trekking, scenic boat safaris, cultural encounters, and a return flight from the rainforest back to Entebbe.
Depart Entebbe early for a scenic drive north to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (175 km / 3 hrs) for a 2-hour guided walking safari with white rhinos in the wild, followed by lunch in Masindi and a continued drive (135 km / 2.5–3 hrs) into Murchison Falls National Park, where you’ll check in and enjoy a 1.5-hour night game drive in search of nocturnal animals like hyenas and leopards.
Start with a 4-hour sunrise game drive on the Buligi Peninsula, a prime area for spotting lions, giraffes, elephants, buffalo, and Jackson’s hartebeest, then visit the spectacular Top of the Falls, where the Nile explodes through a 7-meter gorge, and finish the day with a 2-hour boat cruise to the base of the falls, passing hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife including fish eagles and kingfishers.
After breakfast, embark on a long but scenic transfer south to Kibale (360 km / 7 hrs), passing through verdant tea plantations and rural towns, arriving in the afternoon for a 2-hour guided nature walk at Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a community-run eco-project home to red colobus monkeys, mangabeys, and over 200 bird species. Evening dinner and overnight
Begin the day with a chimpanzee tracking trek in Kibale Forest (3–4 hrs) where you’ll walk through dense forest with rangers to locate and spend an hour with a habituated group of wild chimpanzees, then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park (145 km / 3 hrs) and enjoy a 1.5–2-hour walk in Maramagambo Forest, one of Uganda’s largest forests known for crater lakes, cave bats, and medicinal plants. Evening dinner and overnight
Take a 4-hour sunrise game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, excellent for spotting lions hunting Uganda kobs and herds of elephants and buffalo, then relax after lunch before enjoying a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lakes Edward and George and famed for its dense hippo and crocodile populations as well as water birds like pelicans and saddle-billed storks.
Head south through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth for a 2-hour game drive in search of the rare tree-climbing lions, then continue into the mist-covered hills of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (230 km / 5.5–6 hrs total) where you’ll arrive by late afternoon for an overnight in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Evening dinner and overnight
Begin the day with a full gorilla trekking experience (total time 4–6 hrs.) starting with a ranger briefing and a hike into the rainforest to spend 1 magical hour face-to-face with a mountain gorilla family, followed in the afternoon by a 1.5-hour cultural encounter with the local Batwa or Bakiga communities, learning traditional skills, dance, and forest life. Evening dinner and overnight
Enjoy a leisurely morning at your lodge with stunning views over the forest, then transfer by road (60–100 km / 1.5–2.5 hrs) to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip, depending on your lodge sector, for your 1-hour domestic flight to Entebbe, arriving in time to connect with your outbound international flight.
