Explore Rwanda’s ancient Nyungwe Forest on a carefully curated 3-day / 2-night safari experience combining chimpanzee tracking with immersive rainforest adventures and scenic countryside drives.
Chimpanzee tracking is the highlight of this journey and is included as a guided forest experience, complemented by a thrilling canopy walk, cultural encounters, and an optional visit to the tranquil shores of Lake Kivu. Nyungwe National Park is one of Africa’s oldest rainforests, home to over 13 primate species, rich birdlife, and more than 500 chimpanzees.

Day 1: Kigali – Nyungwe Forest National Park
Depart Kigali and journey south through Rwanda’s rolling hills and scenic landscapes. Enjoy a cultural stop in Butare, home to Rwanda’s rich heritage, before continuing to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon and relax amidst the sounds of the rainforest.
Overnight: Lodge in Nyungwe area
Meal Plan: Dinner (Half Board) with lunch en route
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy Walk
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering Nyungwe Forest for an unforgettable chimpanzee tracking experience. Later, enjoy the iconic canopy walk suspended high above the forest floor, offering spectacular views of the rainforest canopy.

Day 3: Nyungwe – Lake Kivu – Kigali
After breakfast, depart Nyungwe and travel toward Lake Kivu (Kibuye) for scenic photo stops and relaxation by the lakeshore. Continue to Kigali, arriving in the afternoon and marking the end of your safari.
